V4 style update has much heel notch padding; gave me blisters The style update “V4” of this shoe has much less padding around the heel notch (top of the rear heel) than the prior versions. It’s a shame because I loved prior versions of this shoe (this is my fourth pair of MX608) but the new V4 design gave me blisters at the top of my heel the first time I wore it for a long walk because the rear edge of the shoe is so sharp. Because this became apparent only after longer use I felt I could not return the shoe, but I am giving them away.I was hesitant to write a bad review because I bought the shoe online — maybe it’s my fault for not buying shoes in a store to check the fit? But as the problem is due to New Balance’s redesign I thought I should share it.My Wistful Note to New Balance: Why do you insist on “redesigning” this shoe every 1-2 years? Are your designers bored? Do they have a quota? Does removing 3mm of padding save a few cents on production costs? We humble customers fell in love with your…

Extremely comfortable shoe Bought these to replace a pair of Asics running shoes that broke down after a year and were causing my feet to hurt on long walks with the dog. Being in the over 200lb range I wanted to try a walking shoe to cushion my feet and provide comfort. I saw these on a list for best walking shoes so I ordered them. Wow, are these comfortable. Most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. My first walk, about the point I used to start feeling it in the ball of my feet with the old shoe, I was doing great with these. I did a brisk 6 mile walk and my feel weren’t sore or beat up feeling in the slightest. I have wide feet, and usually go with an E but I saw on reviews that people with wide feet said go with the double EE. I am glad I did, but they are probably just a hair large. But I wouldn’t have wanted them any smaller. I am tempted to buy another pair to have in reserves when these wear out, I like them so much.

Comfortable Shoe, Bad Manufacturing QA, Unclear Warranty Support. It is a nice and comfortable shoe with limited heel lateral support, however, the Quality Assurance of New Balance manufacturing line is disappointing. I was able to wear this shoe twice for a total of 10 hours before the stitches in the front toe panel started to collapse. Looking closely, you can easily see that there was not enough material to sustain said stitches, and most likely several of them were already detached right out of the box. New Balance used to be much better, I still like them and just bought another pair of New Balance Men’s MW928V2 Walking Shoes. We’ll see if this pair makes it to the third day. I checked inside the box, and I did not see any information about warranty claims.
